A leaked video posted to X by @aileaksofficial shows the Android version of Google’s Gemini app redesign in action, and it looks like a significant departure from what’s currently live.

The video shows someone typing a question about the fundamental theorem of calculus, and the interface responds with an animated gradient background that shifts through blues and greens into warmer tones. The input field is pill-shaped, labeled “Ask Gemini,” and the response comes back in a structured format with sections, inline formulas, and a plain-English breakdown.

The post asked followers to compare it against the iOS redesign that surfaced earlier this week, and replies largely favored the Android approach. Several users pointed to Material 3’s lighter performance as a plus over the Liquid Glass effects seen on iOS.

The two versions share the same core layout changes, including the pill-shaped input and animated gradients, but the finish is adapted to each platform’s design language. On iOS, that means translucent Liquid Glass materials tied to iOS 26. On Android, it stays closer to Material 3.

Google hasn’t officially acknowledged either redesign. The iOS version is already in a limited server-side rollout, and it’s not yet clear how far along the Android version is.
