Snapseed 4.0 is rolling out this week for iOS and Android. The update is primarily about Android catching up to a redesigned version of the app that iOS users have had since version 3.0, which launched around mid-2025.

The 3.0 update overhauled the entire interface. It introduced a new homepage showing a grid of recently edited photos, a refreshed editor layout, and a reorganized toolbar with tabs for Looks, Faves, and Tools. Android got none of that at the time.

The Faves tab lets you pin up to four frequently used tools for faster access. Looks makes it easier to save and apply custom presets, including film-inspired filters.

The 3.0 redesign also brought more capable editing tools to iOS. That includes one-touch object masking for subject and background selection, an expanded Color and HSL tool, improved Portrait tools covering skin and eye adjustments, and better RAW file support.

A Snapseed Camera feature also arrived on iOS as part of recent updates. It adds manual controls for exposure and focus, along with real-time film emulations, letting you shoot and edit non-destructively in the same app. Whether the Android rollout includes it is not confirmed, but expectations are high.

The app remains free with no ads, and supports both JPG and RAW files.
