You can change the Default view in Google Maps on Android by enabling the “Start maps in satellite view” option in Maps settings. This option is not available on Google Maps for the web and on iOS but Satellite view is just one click away. On iOS, you can always switch to Satellite view from the icon located in the midsection of the right corner, just under your Google Account photo.
Have in mind that defaulting to the Satellite view will consume more data so, if you are out and about and on a low data cap, we suggest sticking to the Standard (Default) view.
