What to do if Camera failed in Fun Mode on Samsung

Camera failed on Fun Mode Samsung

The Camera app on Samsung phones is one of the most feature-rich and stable camera apps out there. Mainly because Samsung updates it frequently. However, bugs and glitches happen from time to time, even on flagship devices. The problem we’ll try to tackle today is related to the Camera failed error, where the camera app crashes every time users use Fun Mode on Samsung. Primarily, Snapchat filters.

If you’re unsure how to tackle this problem, follow the steps we provided below.

Why isn’t my camera working on my Samsung phone?

There are a few reasons for your Camera to crash or not work on your Samsung phone. Here are the most common:

  • Local data corruption
  • Temporary bug with the app
  • Fan mode issues with Snapchat filters

There might be a few more scenarios but these are the most actual ones at the time of writing this article. Usually, you can fix the problem by clearing the local data from the camera app, updating your system, or disabling Snapchat filters. If you need them, just wait until tomorrow for the infamous dog filter to disappear.

1. Reset the Camera app

The first thing you should try is to reset the Camera app by clearing the local data. In case there’s an issue with the app in general and not only a certain feature this should address it. Pilled-up data will result in problems, even with built-in apps, and wiping data from time to time will help.

Here’s how to clear data from the Camera app on your Samsung smartphone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Apps.
  3. Tap on the Camera app from the list of available apps.
  4. Select Storage.
  5. Tap Clear data.Camera failed Fun Mode
  6. Confirm and restart your device.
  7. Open Camera, grant necessary permissions and check for improvements.

2. Disable and re-enable Snapchat filters

Based on reports of the majority of affected users, the issue in Samsung Camera is related to Snapchat filters in the Fun Mode. This mode brings various built-in filters and a lot of filters from Snapchat directly to your native camera app. And it’s available on Samsung devices in all ranges with some device and region-based limitations.

It seems that the users get the Camera failed in Fun Mode when swiping through Snapchat filters. To fix this, you can try resetting Snapchat filters in Camera settings.

Here’s how to reset Snapchat filters in Samsung’s Camera Fun Mode:

  1. Open Camera.
  2. Swipe to the left through modes and open Fun.
  3. Tap on the cog icon at the top to open Settings.
  4. Scroll down and toggle off the “Show Snapchat lenses in Fun mode“.
  5. Close the Camera app.
  6. Open the Samsung Camera app and navigate again to Fun > Settings.
  7. Toggle on the “Show Snapchat lenses in Fun mode“.Camera failed Fun Mode
  8. Accept the terms and check for improvements.

3. Update the system

For many, issues started after a monthly security update. Updates break but updates also bring fixes so make sure to install the latest update. And, considering that users reported the problem on a few Samsung forums, chances are that the problem is fixed.

Usually, the system gets updated automatically but it won’t cost you to manually check for updates from time to time. Here’s how to check for updates on your Samsung:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.
  4. If there’s any available update, install it.check for software update samsung 1

In case you still get the Camera failed error in Fun mode, check the next step.

4. Watch out for the infamous dog filter

Some users managed to pinpoint the exact reason for the occurrence of the error. Namely, it seems that the silly dog filter is the culprit for the problem. And, if you run into it while swiping through available Snapchat filters, the Camera app will crash. To avoid this, simply avoid this filter. Avoid even swiping over it as the app will crash.

Luckily, the filters change daily so make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi and open the Camera tomorrow.

5. Wait until tomorrow

As we said, just wait until tomorrow and the dog filter will disappear. With a new batch of Snapchat filters in the Fun mode, you shouldn’t run into issues with the Camera app anymore.

With that, we can conclude this article. Thank you for reading and don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
