WhatsApp not ringing on iPhone? Check these steps

whatsapp not ringing ios

Many people use WhatsApp not only for sending instant messages but also for making calls. It’s free, it’s convenient, and not everyone has access to FaceTime. But the problem occurs when WhatsApp is not ringing on your iPhone, so you miss a call or a message. And that’s precisely what’s been happening for some people.

So, we’re going to try and resolve the WhatsApp ringing problem in this article, so you can use the app as intended and without any interference. Keep reading.

Solution 1: Check the volume

Sometimes, it’s the most obvious solution that fixes the problem. For example, I can’t even remember how often I have left the mute switch on for hours or even days. I would flip the switch, and then just forget about it until I notice that my iPhone hasn’t rung in a while.

So, before doing anything else, just make sure to check the mute switch and also make sure the volume on your iPhone isn’t turned down.

Solution 2: Check the notification settings

In case you’re not receiving notifications when someone messages or calls you, make sure to check the notifications settings. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap WhatsApp.
  3. Go to Notifications.whatsapp wont ring ios
  4. Make sure the Allow Notifications option is allowed.
  5. Also, make sure that Sounds and Badges are also enabled.

Solution 3: Update WhatsApp

Although the purpose of updates is to make an app better and more stable, sometimes a certain update does the exact opposite. If a bug slips through developers’ fingers, an update can render a certain feature or the whole app unusable.

If you suspect the previous update you installed caused WhatsApp to stop ringing, your best bet is to simply wait for another update. Make sure to regularly check the App Store for new updates, and when the new patch appears, install it and see if it makes any difference.

Solution 4: DND  and Airplane mode

Do Not Disturb mode blocks all notifications and calls. Many people use this mode while working or sleeping so nothing interrupts them. But unless you have it scheduled, it’s easy to forget to turn it off. The same goes for the Airplane Mode, which isn’t as commonly used, but you could’ve turned it on by accident.

So, head over to Settings, and make sure both the Airplane Mode and Do Not Disturb are disabled. Once you disable these modes, you should be able to receive notifications and Whatsapp should start ringing for incoming calls on your iPhone.

Solution 5: Offload WhatsApp

In case none of the previous solutions worked, try re-installing WhatsApp. Better yet, instead of uninstalling the app the traditional way, go ahead and offload it. Offloading the app deletes it from the iPhone’s storage, but preserves its data, so you don’t have to log in and set everything up from scratch once you install WhatsApp again.

Here’s how to offload WhatsApp:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Head over to General iPhone Storage.
  3. Scroll down until you find WhatsApp.whatsapp not ringing iphone
  4. Tap the WhatsApp app and go to Offload App.
  5. Tap Offload App to confirm.

Now, head over to the App Store, and install WhatsApp again. Maybe this time everything will work as intended.

Solution 6: Reset Network settings

And finally, your last resort is to reset all the network settings on your iPhone. If there’s an interference between WhatsApp and a certain iOS feature, resetting the network settings should take care of it.

But keep in mind that if you choose to reset the network settings, you’ll have to set everything up from scratch. So, think twice before making the decision.

Nevertheless, here’s how to reset the network settings on your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Head over to General Reset.
  3. Tap Reset Network Settings.whatsapp not ringing iphone
  4. Enter your passcode to confirm.

That’s about it. I hope at least one of these solutions helped you resolve the problem with WhatsApp not ringing on your iPhone.
