What happens to your photos when Samsung Gallery drops OneDrive on September 30?

Samsung Gallery is dropping OneDrive sync on September 30, but your photos are not being deleted. Here’s what actually changes and what you may need to do.

Samsung Gallery is dropping its direct OneDrive integration on September 30, but that does not mean the photos you already backed up are about to disappear. The bigger change is where those photos live and how you access them once the integration shuts down.

Anything already stored in OneDrive will remain in OneDrive. Microsoft says users will still be able to access those photos through the OneDrive app or on the web, so the end of Samsung Gallery sync does not delete files from your Microsoft account.

What does change is Samsung Gallery itself. Photos that exist only in OneDrive will no longer appear inside Gallery once the integration ends. Local photos stored directly on your Galaxy phone will remain where they are, but the combined view of local and cloud-backed images will effectively disappear.

If you want certain OneDrive photos to keep showing up inside Samsung Gallery, Samsung recommends downloading the original files to your device before September 30. Once those images are stored locally, Gallery can continue displaying them like any other photo on the phone.

Future backups will also work differently. Samsung Gallery will no longer upload new photos directly to OneDrive, so anyone who wants to keep using Microsoft’s cloud service will need to enable Camera backup inside the OneDrive app instead. Microsoft is directing existing users to OneDrive camera roll backup for continued backups and access after the integration ends.

Samsung also says photos and videos already stored in OneDrive through Gallery sync will remain there after the feature shuts down. That means you do not need to panic-download everything unless you specifically want those files stored locally on your phone.

So the main thing to remember is simple: your existing photos are not being deleted. Samsung Gallery is just losing its role as the front end for OneDrive, which means you may need to download cloud-only photos locally or start managing backups directly through the OneDrive app.
