Fix: iPhone Recent Calls not showing

Having a call log of all calls is as old as handheld phones. One of those decades-old conveniences that we, perhaps, take for granted. Especially if your device, for some reason, stops showing recent calls. This happened to some iOS users who claim that iPhone recent calls are not showing at all. We have a few solutions for this problem so make sure to follow the instructions and, hopefully, get back the good old call log.

Table of contents:

  1. Restart your iPhone
  2. Update firmware and check the SIM card
  3. Reset Network settings
  4. Reset All Settings

How do I get my recent calls to show on my iPhone?

1. Restart your iPhone

The first thing you should do is just restart your device. Some users managed to resolve the problem this way. Sadly, old missing calls didn’t appear but new ones started appearing after that.

If that doesn’t help, try updating the firmware and inspecting the SIM card.

2. Update firmware and check the SIM card

The next step you should take is updating iPhone firmware and try removing and adding again your SIM card. Based on some reports, that helped fix the problem and recent calls started showing in the Phone app.

To manually update firmware on your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Tap Software Update.
  4. Check for updates by swiping down and, if an update is available, download and install it.

In regards to the aforementioned SIM solution, make sure to power off your device, remove the SIM and place it again, power on your device, and look for recent calls in the Phone app. To test it out, just make any call and check the Recents list to see if the call is on the list or not.

3. Reset Network settings

If the issue persists and you can’t see any recent calls, resetting network settings is a good idea. This procedure will restore only network-related settings to their defaults, including Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth-paired devices, and VPN and cellular settings. And, as some users claim, it solves the problem with the recent calls log.

Here’s how to Reset Network Settings on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone from the bottom of the list.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Reset Network Settings.
  6. Confirm with your PIN or password.

4. Reset All Settings

Finally, if iPhone recent calls are still not showing, we can take it up a notch and reset all settings. We can’t guarantee this will fix any problem, considering the network settings reset was enough for the majority of affected users. However, due to the limited options we have, it’s worth a try.

To Reset All Settings on your iPhone, repeat the steps from the previous solution but, instead of Reset Network Settings, choose Reset All Settings. Confirm and wait for your device to restart and boot again into iOS. Have in mind that, although your data is safe, this procedure will erase the majority of changes you’ve made to system and app settings. So some tweaking might be in order afterward.

In the end, we also suggest reporting the problem to Apple so they can provide the fix in the upcoming iOS release.

That should do it. Thank you for reading and we hope that one of the steps above helped you solve the problem. In case you have any questions or alternative solutions, feel free to share them with us and other readers in the comments section below.
