If have a social network presence these days, there’s a good chance that you use Instagram. Add a couple of other apps that notify you frequently and it can be a bit boring. But what if you mix it up and, say, set different notification sounds for each app? WhatsApp, Instagram, FB Messenger, TikTok, Snapchat, or any other social media platform. That way, you can diversify notification sounds. If you want to learn how to change Instagram notification sound on Android, continue reading.
Can you change the Instagram sound?
You can and it’s rather simple if you know where to look. At least, on Android. For the time being, iOS doesn’t support choosing a specific sound for apps but rather sticks to the general one. Another point for Android in the neverending war, I guess.
Either way, the thing with Instagram, in particular, is that it has so many notification sections. You can choose a separate sound for incoming Instagram Direct messages. And a completely different one for Post notifications or Instagram Stories notifications. This is a great way to differentiate between one and the other without even unlocking your phone.
But, without further ado, here’s how to change the Instagram sound on any Android phone:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps and expand to see all apps.
- Now, open Instagram and then open Notifications.
- There, select any section for which you want to change the sound for different notifications. For example, Instagram Direct.
- Tap Sound and select any sound.
- Repeat the action for any other section if that’s your cup of tea.
To change the Instagram notification sound you might need to follow a bit different steps on different Android skins. Not drastically, though. And, that should do it. You can either, as we said, stick to a plethora of system sounds or even download sound snippets and assign them to Instagram notifications. A lot of customization is available as long as you have an interest in tweaking.
Thank you for reading and feel free to ask a question or suggest some additional tweaks for the Instagram notification sound we missed. We look forward to hearing from you.
