How to change Gmail name?
The only way to change your Google Display name in Gmail is to do it in Gmail for Web. There is a particular setting that allows users to either stick to their Google Account name or set a different Gmail-specific name. This is great if you want your name and surname to be present in Gmail for a more formal approach. Especially if you use your Gmail account for work.
Without further ado, here’s how to change your Display Name in Gmail:
- Open Gmail on the Web, here.
- Sign in with your Google Account.
- Click on the cog icon at the top right corner to bring the Settings pane.
- Click See all settings.
- Select Accounts and Import.
- Next to the “Send mail as” section, click Edit info.
- Toggle the bottom bar and type the preferred name you want to use in Gmail.
- Click Save changes.
That’s it. From now on, the name you’ve chosen for your Gmail address will pop up to recipients when they receive your emails.
On mobile, you can open Chrome and enable the Desktop site mode. To do so, open Chrome and tap on the 3-dots menu. Check the Desktop site box. After that, navigate to Gmail for Web and make the aforementioned changes. As simple as that.
