The At a Glance widget is a fan favorite for many reasons. It’s kind of aesthetic and simple but still offers everything you need, at a glance. However, it seems that the widget isn’t all that useful for many users without the weather and we can agree to that. Some of them report that the At a glance widget is not showing weather updates or it’s not showing weather updates all the time. No worries though, we have a few solutions for this problem.

Why is my At A Glance widget not working?
Google’s At a glance widget is a part of the Google app. So, if the widget isn’t working or not showing weather, chances are that the app itself is plagued with an overlying issue. So, make sure to remove the widget and add it again, try clearing the app’s cache, or uninstall updates and install them again. Finally, if nothing works, give the APK a try.
1. Remove the widget and set it again
The first thing to do on non-Pixel devices is to remove the widget and add it again. As simple as that. Also, make sure that you are connected to a stable network, either Wi-Fi or mobile. This usually resolves the missing weather problem immediately. Follow these steps to remove and add the At A Glance widget on your Android device:
- Tap and hold on to the At a glance widget and drag-and-drop it in the top corner to remove it.
- Restart your device.
- Tap-and-hold on the Home Screen.
- Select Widgets.
- Drag the At a glance widget and place it on the home screen.
Of course, this applies to non-Pixel phones, as on Google’s handsets, the widget can’t be removed completely on the stock launcher.
2. Check Home Screen options
On Pixel phones, At a glance comes with the default launcher as a permanent home screen widget. You can also, under the Home Screen settings, change what is visible on the At a glance widget. Option to disable Weather is also available, so make sure to check if the option is indeed enabled. If not, toggle it back on.
To access this menu, tap and hold on to the At a glance widget and open Preferences. Once there, enable the weather. If the weather is still missing, you can try to add another At a glance widget to the Home Screen. As soon as the main one shows the weather, you can remove it. Just follow the steps from the first solution.
3. Check Permissions
Another important thing to check is permissions. Again, on Pixel and stock Android devices, Google and its services have all the permissions from the get-go. However, on Android skins like Samsungs One UI (famous for aggressive process termination), the Google app has certain system-imposed limitations. You’ll need to navigate to Settings > Apps > Google and grant permissions to Google.
In addition, make sure that the app can work in the background and that it won’t be killed by battery optimization. Once you’ve done that, check for improvements.
4. Reinstall Google app
The next thing you can try is reinstalling the Google app. Since the At a glance widget is a part of the Google app, reinstallation should address the problem at hand. Of course, the Google app can’t be removed completely (on most Android skins), but you can rather uninstall updates and restore the app to its system default version.
Here’s how to reinstall the Google app on your Android:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps & notifications.
- Choose All apps.
- Open Google.
- Tap on the 3-dot menu and uninstall updates.
- Restart your device and update the Google app.
If the At a glance widget is still not showing weather, you can uninstall updates again, disable automatic updates for the Google app in Play Store, and download an older APK. To learn everything on how to roll back the app’s version, make sure to check this article.
If you are still unable to utilize At a glance by Google, there are some alternatives you can try. Basically, every Android skin comes with a stock Weather app that has its own widget. Until the issue is addressed by Google, we suggest giving them a go.
And, on that note, we can conclude this article. Thank you for reading and feel free to tell us about alternative solutions we forgot to mention or post a question in the comments section below. We look forward to hearing from you.
