Wi-Fi button not working on iPhone? Here’s what to do

wifi button not working iphone scaled

Having a good and reliable Wi-Fi connection is essential for anything you do on your iPhone. But what if you can’t even connect to a Wi-Fi network? If the Wi-Fi button is not working on your iPhone, and I assume it doesn’t since you’re reading this article, we’ll try to find the solution here.

Wi-Fi button not working on iPhone? Try these fixes

If the Wi-Fi button is not working on your iPhone, there’s a good chance you have a hardware problem, which could even require you to replace your device. However, there are a few solutions you could try, just to make sure you’ve tried everything before potentially replacing your iPhone.

1. Disable Airplane Mode

If the Airplane Mode is on, all the communication services on your iPhone will be blocked, including Wi-Fi. So, the first thing you’ll want to try is to make sure this mode is disabled.

To make sure the Airplane Mode is off, head over to Settings and toggle the Airplane Mode option off.

2. Reboot your iPhone

Sometimes the simplest solution could be the right one. Many users on the forums have reported that all it took to resolve the Wi-Fi problem for them was a reboot.

To reboot your iPhone, press and hold the Side button + the Volume Down button at the same time, until the Power off slider appears. Just drag the slider to the right, and your iPhone will power off. Turn on your iPhone again, and check if the Wi-Fi button now works.

3. Reset Network Settings

Resetting the Network Settings may help with the grayed-out Wi-Fi button. However, doing this will completely wipe all your network settings. This means all your Wi-Fi passwords, plan settings, and just about anything related to the internet connection will be gone and you’ll have to set up everything from scratch. If you’re ready for such an adventure, here’s how to reset the Network Settings on your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Tap Reset Network Settings.reset network settings ios 1
  5. Enter your password or PIN and then confirm the selection.

4. Contact Apple Support

If none of the previous solutions worked, there’s a good chance the problem is hardware-related. In that case, you should contact Apple support for additional help. If it comes to it, you may even need to replace your iPhone. That won’t be a problem if you’re under warranty. If you’re not under warranty, you’ll probably want to go through the Genius Bar or Apple Care. Although these options aren’t exactly free, they’re better than purchasing a brand new iPhone.

That’s about it, I hope this article helped you resolve the problem with the Wi-Fi button on your iPhone. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, feel free to let us know in the comments below.
