How to improve screen contrast on Huawei Mate 9
This color issue is closely related to ”Increase readability in Sunlight” feature. Its main use is, as you can already assume, to improve readability outdoors, while reading in the direct sunlight. And it’s enabled by default. However, it vastly impacts color contrast, making black looking washed out.
These are the steps you’ll need to follow in order to get your color back:
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to About Phone.
- Tap 7 times on Build version number to trigger Developer options.
- In Developer options, find ‘‘Increase readability in sunlight” and turn it Off.
- Turn off Developer options and clear Settings app data to remove it from Settings menu.
- Test your screen outdoors.
You’ll see that the colors are much better placed and with much more contrast than before. Of course, if you’re not satisfied, you can enable ”Increase readability in sunlight” again by following same steps.
