How to prevent Huawei Mate 9 from accidentally unlocking in your pocket

“I have found 3 mornings in a row that when the phone is in my pocket and I walk to work its clearly trying to turn itself on, as when I pull it out the phone is in suspend mode and says I can’t unlock it for 15 mins. It must be responding to sensors or the power button isn’t strong enough to avoid accidental presses. It says “fingerprint suspended try again in x minutes”. The pin entry is non responsive during this time so its clearly a security lock which is being triggered by false movements.”

How to prevent your phone from unlocking in your pocket

To prevent Huawei M9, and basically any Android Nougat-compatible phone from unlocking in your pocket, you simply need to enable one setting. Here’s exactly what you need to do:

1. Go to Settings
2. Now, go to Security > Smart Lock, and confirm your security pattern
3. When the Smart Lock screen pops up, tap on Got it to continue
4. Go to On-body detection
5. Toggle On-body detection on 

This will enable special sensors on your phone, that will recognize when your phone is in your pocket. Additionally, this feature will keep your phone unlocked while it’s in your hand, and locked while it’s in your pocket. You can use this method on basically any Android phone with Nougat installed, not just Huawei Mate 9.
