Fix: Alarm doesn’t work in iOS 10

In approximately 10 years, Apple introduced 10 upgraded variations of iPhone and 10 main iOS versions. Since the first iPhone was launched back in 2007, the world witnessed an astonishing evolution of both hardware and software solutions. However, even though iPhone 7 has all of that flashy options, remarkable interface, and advanced hardware to run everything smoothly, sometimes the most basic things won’t work.

We already talked about iOS 10.2 common issues, reported by large audiences. But, this problem we bump into is an annoyance by itself. It is on the same level with the unclear sound from the speaker in calls. It is the Alarm malfunction. And those are elementary things, options that are present for 20 years in all mobile phones. Even the ones that are not ‘smart’.

We prepared some solutions, albeit we hope that Apple will address this problem with the upcoming updates.

How to fix Alarm issue on iOS 10

Delete all  Alarms, reboot, then set them up again

In some cases, this bug can be fixed in few simple steps:

  1. Go to Clock app on your Home Screen.
  2. Choose the Alarm tab in the bottom.
  3. Tap Edit in the top left.
  4. Mark and delete all alarms.
  5. Reboot your phone.
  6. Follow the same path and set again preferred alarms.

Adjust the Volume

Alarm volume is the same as the Ringer one. So you should raise the volume using your physical button while on the Home Screen. Alternatively, you can follow this path:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Sounds.
  3. In Ringer and Alert slider, slide right.
  4. Now your alarm volume should be fine.

Restore your phone as a New iPhone

Restoring your phone is a hard doing, especially when you are starting from the scratch. All of your settings and content will be lost.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Choose Reset.
  3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  4. Confirm action.
  5. After everything is deleted, set up your phone until the App & Data screen shows up.
  6. Tap Setup as  New iPhone.
  7. Now you can start from the beginning, and try out your Alarm again.

Update your phone

Make sure that your iOS version is up to date. Maybe, with updating, your problem suddenly resolves. Therefore, follow this path to check your iOS version.

  1. First and foremost, backup your phone before updating.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Choose Software Update.
  5. If the update is available, download and install.

Conclusion

Even though we are overwhelmed with an abundance of options, smartphone producers sometimes neglect important simple options used on daily basis. Our advice to you is to buy yourself a standard, classic Alarm clock. It is cheap and you won’t be late for work.
