Huawei Mate 9 was a breakthrough model of the Chinese giant that made a clear point towards the world market: ”prepare yourself, we are here to compete!” And they truly made an impact. This flagship offers great features, amazing camera, and a phablet-like LCD screen.
However, it’s not all bread and butter with this device. Besides overheating issues and sensitive protective glass, users are having an issue with the color contrast. Mainly with the black nuances that seem washed out under direct sunlight. That may, besides aesthetics, downgrade all-around screen quality. Luckily, there is a way to fix this issue with the few simple tweaks. So, if you’re tired of grayish black on your Huawei Mate 9, follow the instructions below.
How to improve screen contrast on Huawei Mate 9
This color issue is closely related to ”Increase readability in Sunlight” feature. Its main use is, as you can already assume, to improve readability outdoors, while reading in the direct sunlight. And it’s enabled by default. However, it vastly impacts color contrast, making black looking washed out.
These are the steps you’ll need to follow in order to get your color back:
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to About Phone.
- Tap 7 times on Build version number to trigger Developer options.
- In Developer options, find ‘‘Increase readability in sunlight” and turn it Off.
- Turn off Developer options and clear Settings app data to remove it from Settings menu.
- Test your screen outdoors.
You’ll see that the colors are much better placed and with much more contrast than before. Of course, if you’re not satisfied, you can enable ”Increase readability in sunlight” again by following same steps.
That should do it. In case you have any questions or suggestions related to the subject, the comments section is below.
